INTERN PROGRAM -
Interns are entry level firefighters that have successfully completed a fire academy program. They are required to complete 900 hours of "fire house" experience. Typically interns are put on a standard firefighting shift along side experienced and certificated firefighters. They also complete a training task book of required skills which earns them a Fire Fighter 1 certificate through State Fire Marshal.
The Higgins Fire District is always seeking interns. Interested academy graduates are encouraged to contact Battalion Chief Jerry Good at 530-269-2488 for an application.
CADET PROGRAM -
Cadets are high school students that are interested in a fire service career. The Higgins cadet program is supervised by Fire Engineer Gary Bisagno. Interested high school students are invited to contact Battalion Chief Jerry Good at 530-269-2488 for an application.
