Jerry Good

Jerry Good began a career in printing at his family’s print shop in Culver City, CA. At 18 years old he joined the Army National Guard where he spent 6 years, finishing as a Staff Sergeant. At the age of 22 Good married and started a family. A few years later the print company that he worked for moved him and his family up to Sacramento as part of the company expansion. In 1979 Good moved his family to a small ranch in South Nevada County, just a few miles from the Higgins Fire Station. The following year, at a neighborhood BBQ, Good was recruited by Steve Dickey and a few others to join the Higgins Fire District as a Volunteer Firefighter. Good spent 15 years as a Volunteer for the district, rising to the top as a Captain. In 1995 Good was hired as a Full-time Firefighter Operator. In 1998 Good was promoted to FAE and then made Captain in 2001. Just 5 years later, Good was made Battalion Chief in 2006 before becoming the first-ever Chief of Higgins Fire District in 2018. Jerry retired from Higgins Fire District in December of 2023 after 43 years of service, leaving an incredible legacy of service, commitment, and dedication.
As of September, 2026, Jerry has returned to the Higgins Fire District as a member of the Board of Directors. We are very much looking forward to his invaluable contribution to the District and our constituants.
